It was a long night in the Emergency room last night. Joe wrecked on his bike at around 7 PM just down the road ... hobbled home bleeding. The good news ... and there is only good news ... is that he is going to be fine. Scraped up badly - a mangled foot - and severly injured pride.
Otherwise, my boy is okay. He's in a lot of pain this morning - but they also gave him good drugs. Another life lesson!

What a great day! I am NOT AT WORK! Okay, I went in for an hour this morning before school to rehearse my Shakespeare kids ... but after that I left. Took care of some business - and now Andy and I are headed to KC to see the daughter and (hopefully, it won't rain) go out to Gaia and do some work on the trail for the Vision Quest. I am so happy to be getting out of town - I feel like I am running away and leaving all of my STRESS behind me! I think I am ready for this particular school year to end :)

panic attack

Oh, my! What a surreal day it has been. If you catch the local news tonight, you will see that Windsor High School was subject to a police exercise today
on dealing with an intruder/terrorist. That means that we had a three and a half hour lock-down with a fake intruder, swat teams, and a hostage negotiator.
It was really bizarre! There were armed policeman rushing down the halls, evacuating classrooms, yelling "up against the wall," and other surreal crap.
The intruder took over John Leech's room just down the hall (Couldn't happen to a better guy.) It was just so paranoid. And, now I guess we must consider ourselves terrorist ready because I ran out to my car for something 7th hour and came back to find that most of the building doors were UNLOCKED!
